The brief

Ipswich Housing Action Group (ihAg) approached us to redesign their website, which had become outdated and difficult to navigate. The goal was to create a modern, user-friendly platform that clearly communicates the charity’s impact while supporting a range of audiences.

The new site needed to:

  • Provide clear pathways for service users, supporters and professionals
  • Better highlight ihAg’s impact through data and real stories
  • Make it easy for users to take action, including donating or accessing support
  • Ensure content was up-to-date, easier to access and to manage

Our approach

We restructured the website to guide users based on their needs, creating clear entry points for:

  • People experiencing homelessness
  • Individuals looking to support or donate
  • Those seeking help for others

This ensures visitors can quickly find relevant information while also building a broader understanding of ihAg’s work.

Putting impact front and centre

A key priority was shifting the narrative to highlight “this is who we are and what we achieve".

We introduced:

  • Impact statistics (e.g. rough sleepers supported, meals provided, centre visits)
  • Clear messaging around outcomes and community value
  • Messaging that highlights the scale of ihAg’s work

We wanted funders and supporters to quickly understand the scale of ihAg’s work without needing to dig through lots of content.

Simplifying content and navigation

We streamlined the site navigation to reduce friction and improve usability by:

  • Removing outdated content, including legacy COVID and money advice pages.
  • Refining the messaging to make it clearer and more focused.

Straightforward calls to action were introduced throughout, helping users quickly understand what to do next. Visually, we focused on clarity and consistency, creating a cleaner, more balanced design. This included:

  • A more considered use of imagery and content to improve readability.
  • Replacing busy scrolling banners with strong single images.
  • Updating the photography approach for a more cohesive and authentic feel.

Together, these changes make it easier to access content across all pages.
